Chartered in 1983 as a fundraising and support organization for Shepherd Center, the Junior Committee plans year–round for Derby Day.
This group of young professional volunteers (22–35 years old) has contributed over $3.5 million to–date toward the wide variety of Therapeutic Recreation projects and programs benefiting Shepherd’s patients.
This year, Junior Committee is celebrating its 30th year. Starting as a small group, the Committee has grown over the years. Having fun and meeting new people while raising money and supporting Shepherd Center has been the success of the committee.
Wednesdays: September 21, October 26, November 16, January 18, February 15, March 21, April 18
Legendary Late Night - Saturday November 5, 2011 10 pm - 2 am. More details to come.
Junior Committee Requirements
We are excited for another year of Junior Committee fun and look forward to making Derby Day 2012 a huge success.
Derby Day is only successful because of the time given and hard work of all Junior Committee members. All Provisional (new) and Steering (1+ year) members are asked to fulfill the following requirements. Please look them over and email any questions to Cara Puckett, Annual Events Manager. All Junior Committee members must:
• Pay dues: $55 Individual/ $95 Couple
• Provisional (new) Members must attend 5 out of 7 meetings. Provisional members are also required to attend 1 orientation meeting.
• Steering Members (1+ years) must attend 4 out of 7 meetings.
• Turn in a “Hit List”, which is a list of contacts who may be interested in supporting Derby Day. FAQ about Hit Lists is available. To fill out a new Hit List, click here.
• Generate at least $100 in sponsorship donations.
• Sell 7 tickets for Derby Day, any combination of event and raffle tickets.
• Attend Derby Day (May 5, 2012) and serve a volunteer shift during the event.

Whether you are joining as a new member or you want to renew your membership, look over the meeting schedule and the above requirements and if you are comfortable with everything, email Cara Puckett and she will provide you with a membership form.
